Studying under Martin Parr and Paul Graham, as a student, Lucy collaborated with the Terrence Higgins Trust where she exhibited internationally, work that received support from Richard Branson and the late Jo Spence.
Then basing herself in Brixton, she spent the 90's and early 2000’s agent represented and shooting commercially in the world of fashion and music.
Her clients during that time included Wrangler, Ben Sherman and Sony Playstation, alongside the major and independent record labels.
She worked for numerous publications including Rolling Stone, The Times, Elle, The Face, Sky Magazine, Pride, Attitude and Mixmag
Still local to her photographic roots, she is now an Alumni of the London College of Fashion and a UAL Professional Mentor, having graduated in 2020 from a BPS accredited, Applied Psychology in Fashion MSc.
Being a mother of girl teens, going back to study psychology was influenced by founding the project teenspirit.london in 2015 which centered on producing ‘healthy selfies’ as a backlash against the retouching and image manipulation that existed within the selfie.
Teen Spirit encouraged the celebration of inclusion and diversity and aimed to help build healthy ‘ image esteem’ within young teens, through photography back when the body positivity within Instagram had yet to be born .
ACADEMIC RESEARCH
Lucy’s academic research includes exploring how the retouching of our phone images may play a significant, long term role in our ‘sense of self’ where memories stored as past selfie history are based on ‘fake’ imagery.
She has examined the position of the influencer and their responsibility towards the narrow beauty ideal through presenting undeclared enhancements of their own bodies.
She has also written in dismay about gender ageism within the media where millennials are re-positioning against their will, the Baby Boomers and beyond.
MOST RECENTLY
Building on her MSc in Psychology, Lucy has trained to become a certified Coach and is gaining hours towards her ICF accreditation through partnering with creative woman, to enable them to realign with their values, as they manage transitional stages in their lives.
She particularly welcomes neuro-diverse clients, more specifically with ‘late diagnosis’ ADHD and Autism.
